Talan is a sixth century medic working among the villages and monasteries of Devon and Cornwall. He has been asked to treat a young boy with a mysterious illness in a community on Bodmin Moor.
Nonna is the daughter of a king, and has left Wales to live as a saint high on the moor.
This is the story of Talan's bid to aid David, Nonna's only son. David would become the patron saint of Wales, and this is a fictional account of part of his time in the village of Altarnun.
Set in a small community of early Christians, the moors and woods of mid Cornwall have many links with the old ways, and Talan must adapt to the landscape if he is to help his young charge.
This is the first instalment of several books about Talan, and here we find him beginning his life as a medical cleric. The series will explore the history, culture and lands of the early brythonic church in Cornwall and beyond.
